On contract with Bill Smith Studio, we were asked to take pitch in and work on the interior for the 2008 edition of the World Almanac for Kids, a project Bill Smith Studio has been overseeing for over a decade. The 2008 edition of the book was the most ambitious edition yet, with full spread imagery on every page and an impressive color palette. Each page was individually art directed to work well by itself, but maintain continuity throughout the book (which was essential as there were approximately a dozen designers all working on the interior). Imagery had to be eye catching and relate to the information in the section, but could not overpower it, because what is an almanac if not the facts it contains?
