Spring-Summer 2009
It’s a summer tradition, when the sun is high and the thermometers city wide are broken you pack up some lunch, hop on the F train and head out to Coney Island for a day full of some of the best independent music that can fit on two stages for the Village Voice’s annual Siren Festival. Love Has No Logic was super excited to once again work with the Village Voice and Paul Antonson on the identity for this, the 9th annual time the festival has descended upon the city.
Things got kicked off on the right foot with another amazing illustration from Paul. It was a visual feat, simultaneously spastic with it’s explosion of shapes while still easy to look at as it was built around a basic color palette. With the illustration complete we set about putting together a great logo to match it. Inspiration was pulled from the vintage boardwalk signage scattered all around Coney.
With the logo completed, the onslaught began, with a constant rush of advertisements, t-shirts, postcards, posters, rack toppers, letterhead, etc. It was a whirlwind of work, culminating in a final push to put the finishing touches on everything just weeks after we relocated to Chicago.
Next year brings the 10th anniversary of this Brooklyn tradition and we’re itching to get started.
