Spring-Summer 2008
It’s a summer tradition, when the sun is high and the thermometers city wide are broken, it’s time to pack up some lunch, hop on the train and head out to Coney Island for a day full of some of the best independent music that can fit on two stages for the Village Voice’s annual Siren Festival. This year’s festival was the 8th Annual, but the first that we were brought on board to create the day’s look and feel.
Things got kicked off on the right foot with another amazing illustration to server as the backbone of all the printed material, courtesy of Paul Antonson. From there, we created a logo that would work well with the illustration, was true to the festival’s history over the previous seven years, but also began looking forward a bit as well. With the logo completed, the onslaught began, with a constant rush of advertisements, t-shirts, postcards, posters, rack toppers, letterhead, etc. It was a whirlwind of work, culminating in a final push to put the finishing touches on the final remaining pieces while on a houseboat in the middle of Utah the week before the festival.
All the hard work paid off on July 19th as we walked around Coney Island, listened to some great bands, saw a lot of friends, rode the Cyclone (for some of us the very first time), and saw the work we did everywhere our eyes landed. We’re already looking forward to getting started on 2009.
