We were damn excited to work with the band Piglet, which includes the owner of Curtain Call Music. We had come across the band while hosting the local music radio show on WLUW in Chicago and were big fans. We wanted something that was cheap AND high quality, allowing for a limited amount to be printed since the record was to be limited to 200 copies. Letterpress was the answer.
The labels were designed around the concept of the “remix”. The capital and lowercase of each letterform was combined and tweaked, creating a new, unique composition of the band’s name, mirroring the way that remixers use the original tracks of a song to recreate a wholly new composition.
The covers were based off the sketchings of a friend of the band. Multiple typewriters were used as many hands were involved in the creation of these new compositions. The result is an eye catching, low-cost, high-quality 7” package that ties in directly with the songs contained within.
