This poster was part of a series of 10 posters put together as a collaborative project. 10 designers were selected to graphically analyze important events in the history of the US’s foreign policy. I chose to work with the Cuban Missile Crisis.
The background imagery is comprised of surveillance photos. The top half is overlaid with correspondence from the Russian embassy and the bottom half is overlaid with actual notes taken by Kennedy during one of many cabinet meetings. The personal touches in the communication contrasted quite nicely with the state of paranoia at the heart of the surveillance state truly driving the cold war.
