The Chicago Independent Radio Project is a foundation, based out of Chicago, lobbying Congress and the FCC to open up the low-power FM spectrum and tighten up restrictions on media ownership and consolidation. Once they are successful, the group will work towards bringing a new community based radio station to the Chicago area.
The site needed to highlight the issues surrounding the group’s lobbying efforts, but went further, with blogs from the group’s members, event highlights from around the city and news, tidbits and interviews from the Chicago music community. Each of these different elements was given space on the site’s front page, showcasing the newest content in each section and offering several different paths for the user to follow when exploring the site further.
For the masthead an image rotation script was whipped out of our toolbox, featuring imagery shot by John Schroeder of Photo Entropy, a Chicago based photo blog.
