What do you do when a good friend calls you on Friday and says he has a new site he’s involved with that needs to launch next week? If you’re on our team the answer is simple; You make a bunch of phone calls, start digging through the idea archive, crack the whip to keep everyone on a tight schedule and trade sleep for code until the project is done two days early. We’re not speaking in hypotheticals either.
The friend in question was Adam Metz and the project he described was right up our alley. Simply put it was a food and lifestyle blog, but in reality, so much more. BrokeAss Gourmet focus’ on easy to make, impressive food that can be put assembled on the cheap. It expands on the connection between good food and good wine, and it explains how both can lead to great sex. The tone of the writing is approachable, yet frank, pulling no punches for a G-rating.
Having read the early posts that Gabi Moskowitz, and the rest of the BrokeAss team, have ready to go, I’m expecting BrokeAss Gourmet to quickly become one of my favorite sites. This project goes to show that short production cycles don’t mean that you have to cut corners and compromise, you simply have to work faster and smarter.
